THE BRIDAL EXPERTS
We are experts in wedding dress alterations and in tailoring your brand-new dress to fit you perfectly. Every wedding is different, with different styles, different places and even different climates and this is because we are all unique. So, it always amazes me how many different wedding dresses there are on the market. We have over the years altered all styles of dresses, from the most amazing huge tulle multilayered dresses to the most svelte lace sculpted and figure-hugging dresses and we are proud to say, that we can alter any kind of dress, and make it look like it has not even been touched. All garments will be pressed and ready to wear for the day. However, if the bride knows that the fabric will become crumpled in transit, we do provide an ironing/steaming service for the bride on her wedding day, or the day before, at her wedding venue (mostly in East Anglia).
The COnsultation
At our consultation fitting, we will take time to measure and fit you carefully and will pin your dress carefully, to get the correct length so that you can walk with pride on the day knowing you look perfect and that it fits just right.
Each fitting may take up to an hour or more and we do recommend that you have some shoes of the height you intend to wear on the day, and appropriate underwear to suit your garment. This gives us a good idea for the length of the dress, and we mostly prefer to make the hems “ kiss the ground” as this looks best for photographs.
You are welcome to come to our studio here in Suffolk. We can accommodate most times of the day, evening and weekend, to allow you and your family to get to the meeting, as we know brides are busy people. Sometimes, we don’t even meet our clients, the dress is delivered to us and then an online consultation or phone call will take place so we know exactly what is required, and then the garment will be dispatched, ironed and ready to wear for the day.
Taking time to take care of every single detail will allow you to enjoy your day, trouble-free knowing that you can sit, eat, walk, talk and dance the night away with your new husband. We fit bustle loops at the back of the dress so that you can enjoy your first special dance together as a married couple, and we take the time to help you understand how to walk in your dress and enjoy the glamour of wearing a garment which is so special and so important and so different to the day-to-day clothing we ordinarily wear.
The day will go quickly so we know that each moment has to be savoured and we return all off cuts to you so that you can keep them in your keepsake book or even make them into a cushion to put the rings on.
We enlarged the train and put lace around the edge to give maximum impact.
We will help customise your dress too if necessary and can make extra sleeves or add lace onto dresses to enhance them, or add belts, or make beautiful straps with beading, and we have even made trains extra long and added lace edging for that extra impact. Sometimes we have to enlarge the dresses, and where possible that will be done. We can also provide bespoke lace/silk jackets to accompany the dress should the wedding be in the winter.
Whatever you need we will do and we try to accomplish all alterations at least a month before the wedding date, so that you are happy in the knowledge that you have your dress. However, at peak times of the year, and when brides get married quite quickly that can not always be achieved, but we will try and accommodate all requirements and work to complete your dress as quickly as possible.
After the wedding, we recommend you consider dry cleaning your wedding dress and we recommend a dry cleaner who is established in high-quality bridal cleaning so that your dress can maintain its quality and beauty. We have partnered with Giovalli from WEST END DRY CLEANERS with 35 years’ of dry cleaning experience as he’s the best expert in the area to care for your dress.
